RESEARCH ON THE INFLUENCE OF PILE-SINKING CONTROL ON THE MEDIUM COMPRESSIBLE SOIL FOUNDATION SETTLEMENT OF UTILITY TUNNELS
Urban utility tunnels often encounter adverse geological conditions during the construction.Adverse foun-dations inevitably lead to settlement and deformation of the existing underground utility tunnels with cracks and leak-age,which affects the normal use of the tunnels.Taking a three-compartment utility tunnel on a medium-pressure compressible soil layer as the case, numerical simulations are conducted for two working conditions including with and without controlled settlement piles by using Plaxis 2D finite element software. The influence of pile length,diam-eter,and spacing on settlement is analyzed. The results show that controlled settlement piles significantly reduce the settlement of the tunnel foundation and prevent uneven settlement and shear failure of the soil comparing to the con-dition without piles.Pile length, diameter, and spacing all have varying degrees of impact on the settlement of the tunnel foundation.
