EFFECTIVENESS OF SURFACTANTS ON THE SELF-HEALING OF ASPHALT IN AQUEOUS ENVIRONMENTS
This paper investigates the effectiveness of surfactant addition in an aqueous environment on asphalt mi-gration and asphalt self-healing.The molecular structure model of asphalt-surfactant solution-asphalt is estab-lished,and molecular dynamics is applied to obtain the micro-mechanism of asphalt migration under the action of surfactant in the aqueous environment. An experiment is deployed to make a validation of bitumen migration in the aqueous environment in the presence of surfactants. The microscopic simulations results show that there is adsorp-tion between the sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate solution and the asphalt molecules on both the upper and lower sides;there are interactions between the sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate molecule and both asphalt molecules. The results from the macroscopic experiments show an increase in the weight of the bitumen on the rotor, and the migra-tion and self-healing of the bitumen in the aqueous environment in the presence of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate.
