NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON THE SOIL DEFORMATION CAUSED BY UPWARD SHIELD CONSTRUCTION
The shield tunneling machine often leads to the deformation of the surrounding soil during the upward shield tunneling process starting from the horizontal tunnel.A numerical model is established by using the MIDAS GTS NX software.Through activating or passivating the grid and changing the parameters and attributes of the grid, the actual process of upward shield tunneling construction is simulated. The deformation law of the soil around the tun-nel is obtained, and the influence of different vertical tunnel lengths, different upward shield tunneling speeds, and other factors on the soil deformation is studied. The results show that the settlement of the soil surface increases first and then decreases, even with upheaves. When the surface soil is closer to the center of the shaft, the change of hori-zontal displacement is smaller than that of vertical displacement. Moreover, the longer the length of the vertical tun-nel,the greater the disturbance of soil and horizontal tunnel caused by upward shield tunneling.Furthermore, the slow-er the upward shield tunneling speed is during construction, the influence of vertical disturbance on soil is smaller.
