RESEARCH ON THE SPATIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF STREETS SPACE IN MODERN JAPANESE RESIDENTIAL AREAS IN DALIAN
The modern Japanese-style residential area in Dalian is the cultural product of an important historical pe-riod in the course of Dalian's urban construction. The diversified spatial organization features, stable and unified in-ternal order, and unique aesthetic design are with high research value. The street space of three representative mod-ern Japanese residential areas in Dalian are selected for a quantitative analysis with the space syntax theory,in which the internal development laws and spatial morphological characteristics are excavated. Lack of integration de-gree core and low accessibility is the main problem. The protection strategies of optimizing the space organization and structure, strengthening the core, and adjusting the street scale are proposed, which may provide scientific and effective method basis for designers in the protection practice of historical and cultural blocks in the future.
