STUDY ON THE APPLICATION OF STEP VARIABLE SECTION PILE FOUNDATION IN HIGH AND STEEP SLOPES
Material waste and poor economy performance exist in the foundation of large diameter steel pipe pile for transmission tower in high and steep slope. The use of step variable section pile foundation effectively improves the economy and reduces the construction difficulty. The refined finite element model of the variable section piles and straight piles in a 45° slope is established by ABAQUS software. The variable section piles and straight piles are compared in terms of the maximum stress and maximum displacement under the same pressure condition. The re-sults show that under the condition of a 45° slope in soft soil areas,the maximum tensile stress values of variable cross-section piles and equal cross-section piles meet the strength requirements,and the difference between the maximum displacement and the maximum stress of the steel cage is small,in which variable cross-section piles can replace straight piles. Under the condition of a 45° slope in hard soil areas,the maximum tensile stress values of vari-able cross-section piles and equal cross-section piles meet the strength requirements,and the difference between the maximum displacement and the maximum stress of the steel cage is small,in which variable cross-section piles can replace straight piles. The results may provide the reference and guidance for the application of stepped variable cross-section piles in high and steep slope transmission towers.
