RESEARCH ON REINFORCEMENT PLANS FOR SIMPLY SUPPORTED-CONTINUOUS SMALL BOX BEAM BRIDGES
During the construction process of a simply supported-continuous small box girder bridge, the insuffi-cient concrete compressive stress reserve often exists in the negative moment area, which is caused by the pre-stressed tensioning sequence. Two reinforcement schemes are proposed for the negative moment area of the top plate, namely high ductility concrete pavement and external prestressing. The current construction status and the predicted stress level of the structure after completion of the bridge are analyzed, and a comparative analysis is con-ducted through finite element analysis. The results indicate that the reinforcement scheme using high ductility con-crete pavement would not crack at the upper and lower edges of the main beam during the operation stage. After us-ing high ductility concrete pavement, the bridge load tests show that the bearing capacity and crack resistance of the bridge structure meet the requirements of the design.
