THE INFLUENCE OF RETARDERS ON THE WORKABILITY OF MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE CEMENT
Magnesium phosphate cement features fast setting and hardening, high early strength, low pH environ-ment,and good biocompatibility, which is a magnesium phosphate salt based cementitious material produced by the acid-base reaction of calcined magnesium oxide and potassium dihydrogen phosphate, however it is subjected to the fast-setting time. The effectiveness of borax, boric acid, and calcium chloride on the setting time and hydration heat release performance of magnesium phosphate cement is studied to improve the workability of magnesium phosphate cement. The results show that the setting time of magnesium phosphate cement is the longest when the addition of bo-rax is 8%,reaching 19.5 minutes;when the addition of boric acid is 2%,the setting time of magnesium phosphate ce-ment is the longest, reaching 23 minutes;when the addition of borax is 4%,the setting time of magnesium phosphate cement is the longest, reaching 45.1 minutes.Thestudy maylay a foundation for the development of magnesium phos-phate cement-based retarder materials.
