BENDING BEHAVIOR OF STEEL BEAMS WITH WEB OPENINGS UNDER UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTED LOADS
To study the performance of steel beams with web openings,a finite element model is established to ana-lyze the effectiveness of hole size, hole position, and hole quantity on the deflection of the steel beam. Based on the timoshenko beam deflection theory and the T/CECS 951—2021 code for calculating the incremental deflection of perforated beams,a stiffness reduction coefficient calculation method is provided. On the basis of elastic analysis, the elastic-plastic bending bearing capacity of steel beams with web openings is analyzed, taking into account the ef-fects of opening positions, number of openings, and height to width ratios of the web. A comparative analysis is con-ducted on solid web beams, web openings,single-sided horizontal stiffeners,single-sided horizontal stiffeners, back vertical through stiffeners,double-sided horizontal stiffeners,double-sided horizontal stiffeners, and single-sided vertical stiffeners. It is found that horizontal stiffeners have a significant improvement effectiveness on the bending bearing capacity of the perforated section. When the height to thickness ratio of the web is large, setting horizontal stiffeners helps to improve the stability of the web. Based on the analysis results, practical design suggestions for the reinforcement structure of openings are provided.
