COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF TRADITIONAL HOUSES AND MODERN HOUSES IN SHANXI
The purpose of this study is to deeply explore the seismic performance of traditional houses in Shanxi province under earthquake disasters.By comparing the seismic performance of traditional houses with that of mod-ern houses,the response law of traditional houses under earthquake is found,which provides a theoretical basis for the seismic reinforcement of traditional houses.The finite element software ABAQUS is used to calculate the modes,failure forms,and structural damage under different earthquake magnitudes.The results show that the vibration fre-quency of traditional houses is low and the overall stiffness is small,which makes them more susceptible to earth-quake.Due to the differences in construction methods,material selection and structural forms,the seismic perfor-mance of traditional dwellings is obviously inferior to that of modern dwellings.Under the action of earthquake,the displacement response and acceleration of traditional houses are both high,and the ground edge damage is easy to occur,which leads to the obvious weakening of their integrity and the decrease of seismic performance.
