ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF DAM CONSTRUCTION ON BRIDGE STRUCTURAL SAFETY
To investigate the impact of dam construction on bridge structural safety, this study uses the Xihe Bridge project as a case study.Through finite element analysis, the effects of downstream dam construction on the structural safety of Xihe Bridge were examined. The analysis was performed in three scenarios with different scour conditions, comparing the changes in structural strength, stiffness, and stability before and after dam construction. The results indicate that the most adverse compressive stress increment in Xihe Bridge after dam construction is approximately 1.46%of the value before construction, suggesting that the changes in load effects have a minor impact on the bridge's structural safety. The maximum deformation increase in key load-bearing components, such as the main girder and bridge piers,is about 0.18%compared to before dam construction, which is negligible. The stability coef-ficients of the bridge structure remain essentially unchanged.Overall, the analysis concludes that the impact of dam construction on the structural safety of Xihe Bridge is minimal. The findings provide valuable reference and insights for similar projects.
