IMPACT OF GUARDRAILS ON WIND-DRIVEN SNOW IN INTEGRAL HIGHWAY EMBANKMENTS
To study the impact of wavy beam guardrails and cable guardrails on wind-driven snow disasters in the full cross-section of integral highway embankments, this research uses a 27 m wide integral highway embankment cross-section as a case study.Ansys Fluent simulation software is employed to establish models of the subgrade and guardrails.Simulations are conducted on the wind speed flow field structure of the integral embankment cross-sec-tion under different guardrail types and positions.By analyzing the characteristics of the wind speed flow field, the lo-cations of snow accumulation are identified and compared with field survey data from highways in Jilin Province. The results indicate that snow accumulation on the road surface only occurs when cable guardrails are simultaneous-ly installed on the roadside and central separation zone;all other configurations result in snow accumulation in vari-ous positions on the road surface. The findings provide a reference for the placement of guardrails on integral high-way embankment cross-sections in wind-driven snow regions.
