Research on degradation characteristics of superconducting tapes under overcurrent impact
This paper investigated the angle dependent degradation of critical current under overcurrent impacts, and ana-lyzed the underlying reasons for the microstructure changes and angle dependent degradation of the superconducting layer. The re-sults indicate that overcurrent impacts reduce the angle dependence of the critical current, and the decay rate of the critical cur-rent in the vertical field is faster than that in the parallel field.Structural damage to the superconducting layer and alterations in grain orientation result in a decrease in critical current and angle dependence.Specifically, when the overcurrent magnitude in-creases from 120 A to 300 A,the angle dependency evaluation index(S2)decreases from 180 to 120.Moreover,the effect of overcurrent impact on the conductive region of CuO2 is more pronounced than that on the non-superconducting layer, with the weak coupling of Josephson junctions leading to faster degradation of the critical current in perpendicular fields. This research can provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for the optimization design and safe operation of superconducting transmission e-quipment.
