Deuterium gas is widely used in various fields and is one of the most promising materials for nuclear fusion. In response to the current problem of low detection limit and expensive carrier gas(neon as carrier gas),a helium ionization detector was first used to analyze high-purity deuterium gas.The detection limit of inorganic impurity gases such as argon, oxygen, nitrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide in high-purity deuterium gas can reach 0.01×10-6(vol-ume fraction);A modified alumina column was used for separation at a low temperature of 77 K;H2 and HD detection lim-its can reach 1×10-6(volume fraction). The deuterium gas samples were analyzed to achieve the expected analysis re-sults.This experiment uses a pulse helium ionization detector as the detection method, which increases the detection limit for impurities in high-purity deuterium gas.Helium gas is also used as the carrier gas, which has a more cost-effective anal-ysis advantage than neon gas.
