Abstract
Taboo is a cultural phenomenon in human society.As different religious belief between the Eastern and Western countries,people have different conception of death,therefore euphemism for death abounds in Chinese and English.This thesis makes a comprehensive study focused on English and Chinese different expressions for death in the perspective of taboo with different religious culture.The main purpose is to have a better understanding of taboo for death,and it helps to smooth cross -cultural communication.
