摘要
向达是著名历史学家,也是新中国成立后北京大学图书馆的首任馆长.任馆长期间,向达明确大学图书馆的性质是促进教学科研的学术性机构,直接对学校负责;推动北大图书馆的馆址迁移及其与燕大图书馆的深度融合;克服房屋和人员的不足,配合全校教学改善读者服务;从经费保障、馆藏建设、科研环境等方面建设研究型的北大图书馆.向达将自己长期治学积累的学术眼光运用于办馆实践之中,为北大图书馆的发展作出了重要贡献.
Abstract
Xiang Da is a famous historian and the first director of Peking University Library after the founding of the People's Republic of China.During his career in Peking University Library,Xiang Da made it clear that university library is an academic institution promoting teaching and research and being respon-sible to the university.He promoted the Peking University Library's relocation and its deep integration with Yenching University Library and improved reader service by overcoming the shortage of library space and staff in order to support the teaching of the university.He made attempts to build research-oriented Pe-king University Library in three aspects:the funding,the book collection,and the research environment.With his academic-oriented vision of library management,Xiang Da made a great contribution to the devel-opment of Peking University Library.
