The paper briefly describes the operation of library storage facilities in the USA and intro-duces the latest developments in shared storage facilities of U.S.academic libraries by taking ReCAP as an example.The developments provide implications for the shared storage facilities of Chinese academic librar-ies:standing"above the institution"to enhance collaboration,creating an efficient and shared storage mod-el,developing ASRS,providing seamless discovery services;and ensuring sustainable development of shared storage.
