The Design and Implementation of Digital Scholarship Services—Case Study of Three University Libraries in North Carolina,USA
Digital scholarship is the latest practice and future trend in the field of higher education and academic research in recent years.Digital scholarship services have also become a new direction for universi-ty and research libraries to further expand service content and connect users deeply.The digital scholarship services in libraries of Duke University,University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,and North Carolina State University are representative.Case study method was applied,literature review,field visits,and semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect data.The designs and implementations of digital scholarship services in these three libraries were analyzed.Specifically,their practices and experience in user surveys,gap analysis between user needs and existing services,services development,services promo-tion,librarian capacity building,responding to challenges and thinking about future,etc.were concluded.Comparing the characteristics of digital scholarship services in Chinese and foreign university libraries,this study intends to provide useful information for libraries that plan,promote,adjust,and optimize digital scholarship services.
