从课程教学到文化教育:北京大学信息素质教育工作的回顾与展望

文章分初创时期、共创时期、网创时期、融创时期等四个阶段回顾北京大学百余年来信息素质教育工作的发展历程,总结工作成效、实践经验和基本认识,认为信息素质教育是教育的核心任务之一,是基于信息素质课程教学的文化育人活动,是改善人与信息、人与文化等关系的重要途径,并提出高校信息素质教育的时代命题与未来展望.
From Academic Curriculum to Cultural Education:An Overview and Outlook of Information Literacy Instruction in Peking University
With century-old development,Peking University has established a well-rounded,multi-layered,all-media and far-reached information literacy instruction system,playing a pivotal role in empowering talents and enriching teaching and learning process. This article seeks to portray and unpack the development and experiences of information literacy instruction at Peking University in a retrospective and prospective view. With research methods of literature review,case analysis and expert interview,it summarized the past development,main achievements and basic conceptions of information literacy instruction,and proposed the epochal tasks of information literacy instruction in the new era with future outlooks. Findings indicate that Peking University's information literacy instruction has gone through four stages of development,including the start-up of information literacy instruction among faculties and departments at Peking University before 1980,the co-construction of the national educational scheme between 1981-1997,led by the Steering Committee for Academic Libraries of China with secretariat set in Peking University Library,the E-learning programs coordinated by Peking University with the found of China Academic Library and Information System in 1998,and the interactive and innovative implementation of information literacy instruction since 2018. Main achievements include (1) the collaborative partnerships with broad coverage of patrons by aligning diversified and all-media information literacy instruction with academic curriculum,(2) the well-established information literacy instruction scheme equipping students and researchers the ability to evaluate,access and use effectively the information needed to achieve academic success,(3) the seamlessly embedded scientific research services to conduct rigorous and ethical research and produce scholarly outputs of high quality by providing comprehensive research support from conducting discipline analysis,patent information consultation,research data management,etc. It further defines the information literacy as a set of abilities associated with information activities which can be developed into information attainments through training. It is a cultural education activity extends beyond academic curriculum and serves as an important way to improve information interaction and promote information culture. In retrospect,in the process of information literacy instruction,Peking University is committed to the pursuit of mission and humanism with creative thinking,innovative development,providing user-oriented and collaborative services,sticking to coordinated planning and first-class standards and aiming at value-based and ethics-led educational goals. It concludes that information literacy instruction serving as a prerequisite for the modernization and high-quality development of higher education as well as a glorious mission of university libraries. Looking ahead,it proposes three epochal tasks include striving to be the key component of higher education training system,making advances in the intensive,sustainable and high-quality development of academic libraries,creating competitiveness in the digital transformation of cultural education and E-learning,making progress in the coordinated and integrated development of national education,science,technology and talents.
