Library Development in the Talent Cultivation System of Universities——Summary of the 2024 Forum on the Development of University Libraries
On June 24-27,2024,the 2024 Forum on the Development of University Libraries was successfully held in Jinan,Shandong Province.More than 400 guests,scholars,directors,and representatives from over 200 domestic university libraries and related industries attended the conference.The forum,with the theme of "Libraries in the Talent Cultivation System of Universities",has set up a main forum,sub forums,and a roundtable meeting for museum directors to discuss and exchange ideas on various topics such as the cultivation of new quality talents in library services,the promotion of information literacy education,innovative development of resource construction,and the reshaping of the intellectual and educational ecology.This article introduces the content of the forum and presents the academic achievements and cutting-edge thinking of experts and scholars.It generally summarizes the main content of the forum into four aspects:"value co-creation,enhancing the quality and efficiency,internal and external circulation,and upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground".In terms of value co-creation,experts have clarified that users have a fundamental and strategic position in the modernization and high-quality development of university libraries,and user benefits are the goal driving force for the high-quality development of libraries.A consensus has been reached that artificial intelligence has become a new quality productivity driving the progress of libraries development.New technologies and methods will promote the continuous innovation and development of artificial intelligence technology in library application scenarios.In terms of enhancing the quality and efficiency,experts believe that it is necessary to further promote the high-quality development of information literacy education in response to the trend of education development in the era of artificial intelligence.In terms of internal and external circulation,experts have proposed resource construction internal circulation strategies guided by disciplinary development and user needs,technology driven resource construction external circulation strategies,and overall resource construction strategies oriented towards future development,and have laid out innovative development prospects for resource construction oriented towards future education.In terms of upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground,experts shared innovative strategies for library reading promotion and practical experience in library reading service innovation under the background of intellectual and educational development.This forum has pointed out the direction for libraries to integrate into the development of the university's cause,position and achieve themselves in the development of the university and provide a path reference for libraries to fully exchange and cooperate with teaching and research,textbook systems,and ideological and political work systems,and to develop into an integral part of the university's talent cultivation as soon as possible.It also provides the power of libraries to promote innovation and optimization of talent cultivation models in universities.
