A Study on the Construction Model of the"Central Kitchen"Type Virtual Teaching Research Community Based on University Libraries
As a specific practice of digital transformation of teaching and research in higher education under the open science environment,the virtual teaching research community changes the mode of teaching and scientific research in universities.University libraries should leverage their advantages in resource integration to support the construction and operation of a virtual teaching research community,thereby achieving the expansion of functions and services of university libraries.The paper tries to explore the services and functions of university libraries in constructing a virtual teaching research community based on the resources,services,and space of university libraries.It aims to propose the establishment of a"central kitchen"virtual teaching and research room built in university libraries,characterized as integrated openness,online-offline integration,and resource sharing.First,it discusses the repositioning of the university library under the environment of open science and finds that it is an important advocate and supporter of open science,as well as a participant and collaborator of open education.Then,based on teaching objectives of higher education,basic concept of open science,and information resource co-construction&sharing theory,the paper puts forward the construction framework of a"central kitchen"virtual teaching and research room built in the university library,including a theoretical basis,function orientation,and construction principles.Then,from the aspects of the university library's space,resources,services,talents,and technology,the paper deeply analyzes the advantages of universities participating in constructing a"central kitchen"virtual teaching and research room.Finally,taking Hohai University Library as an example,the paper discusses the construction plan of the university library's participation in the construction of the"central kitchen"virtual teaching and research room,including construction objectives,organization structure,content construction,realization approaches,and so on.The research shows that with the help of emerging technologies,libraries can make reasonable use of library personnel,resources,and services,and build a virtual teaching and research room of a"central kitchen"that meets the actual needs of users,which is a new direction for libraries to serve and educate the user and involve into university teaching and research.It can promote open innovation in higher education,facilitate changes in teaching models,and enhance teaching quality while also elevate the status and involvement of libraries in the university education system.
