The microstructure and properties of large GH4169D alloy ring forgings for aero engine were studied. The effects of forging heating temperature, heating number and original grain structure of the bar on the grain structure of GH4169D alloy ring forgings, and the influence of different grain structures on mechanical properties of forgings were introduced. The research results show that in the state of standard heat treatment, the microstructure of forging can be refined by reducing the forging heating numbers, lowering the heating temperature during forging and using the bar with finer and more uniform microstructure. The final grain microstructure of the forging can be refined significantly by the processes of low temperature die forging preforming and less heating number ring rolling. When the grain size is refined to Grade 9.5~11,the tensile strength and low-cycle fatigue property of the forgings can be significantly improved.
