Study on Controlling of Element Se during Vacuum Induction Smelting of Nickel-based Cast Superalloys Ni80Cr20 and NiCoCrMoX
High performance aero-engine requires nickel-based cast superalloy materials with excellent performance and good purity, which is the most important symbol of nickel-based cast superalloys. In order to get the high-purity superalloys,it is necessary to effectively control the impurity elements, gas elements, harmful microelements, etc.,so that they can stay a very low level(usually 10-6 level).Selenium is one of the most major harmful microelements which can influence the properties of superalloys. In this paper,a series of studies have been carried out on volatility of selenium in nickel-based cast superalloys during vacuum induction smelting. The results show that selenium in nickel-based cast superalloys Ni80Cr20 and NiCoCrMoX can be reduced to0.2×10-6 or less by controlling the refining temperature, refining time and vacuum during the process of vacuum induction smelting.
