Tourism Driving and Social Tradition Restriction:Spatial Evolution Characteristics and Mechanism of Settlements in Hani Rice Terrace
The spatial evolution and functional transformation of settlements have an important impact on the sustainable development of the Hani Terraces heritage. This study takes the Duoyishu area, which is most affected by tourism in the heritage area,as the research object, and reveals the evolution characteristics of the settlement space in the past 15 years from three aspects:the characteristics of the settlement landscape index, the trend of spatial expansion and the cohesive state. It is found that the number of architectural patches and area of the Duoy-ishu area have increased dramatically, and the settlement space is expanding along the tourism artery in general, which has increased the degree of dispersion of the villages and weakened the traditional settlement pattern. This process is mainly influenced by three factors:firstly, the housing demand of the growing population within the villa-ges is the basic driving force for the spatial expansion of the settlements;secondly, the tourism development in the heritage area has led to the spatial expansion of the settlements towards the two sides of the tourism arterial roads;third,in the process of settlement expansion, the traditional concept of settlement plays a restraining role in the de-velopment of settlement form, and plays an important role in maintaining the landscape pattern of"forest-village-terraces-water system"of Hani terraces.Based on this finding,it is pointed out that the planning of new living spaces in villages should make more reference to the settlement concepts and traditional settlement patterns of villa-ges so as to strengthen the collective identity of villages and maintain the traditional way of resource distribution, and to promote the sustainable development of heritage.
