Characteristics of Villages with Markets in the Plain Area and Their Enlightenment to Town Planning:Evidence from Ningling County of Henan Province
To elucidate the spatial distribution characteristics,development conditions and potential of market villages is the premise of scientifically locating their functions in the village and town settlement system.Taking Ningling County in eastern Henan Province as an example,72 villages with markets and 274 villages without mar-kets were compared by means of spatial analysis,landscape analysis and so on from spatial distribution,resource scale and other aspects.It is found that:(1)The layout of villages with markets in plain counties basically meet the"hexagon";(2)Villages with markets are mostly located in the administrative boundary area,which is a sup-plement to the insufficient long-distance radiation of secondary central places;(3)The residential land is more concentrated and efficient in the villages with market;(4)Villages with markets have more obvious transportation location advantages,more abundant human resources and land resources,more advantageous non-agricultural in-dustry development foundation,more favorable infrastructure conditions for the development of modern agriculture,and greater comprehensive development potential.In view of this,in the process of town planning and construction,the market village can be an important node second only to the market town.
