This study aimed to reveal the resilience recovery level and characteristics of the five northwest provinces and regions under the impact of the COVID-19 by constructing a resilience recovery index.Using the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method, the configuration path of factors affecting the resilience recovery level of the five northwest provinces and regions was analyzed, providing important reference for the recovery and sustainable development of China's provincial tourism industry under crisis. The results show that:(1)The aver-age resilience and recovery level of the tourism industry in the five provinces in northwest China in the three years under the COVID-19 show a downward trend in Shaanxi,Ningxia,Gansu,Xinjiang and Qinghai.(2)There are three paths driving the high resilience recovery level of the tourism industry, namely policy driven, economic driv-en,and demand-performance synergy.(3)There are three paths that lead to a low resilience recovery level in the tourism industry, namely policy constrained, demand constrained,policy-demand co-constrained.(4)The com-prehensive supply conditions and regional innovation capabilities are auxiliary conditions for promoting resilience re-covery,and promoting government guidance and stimulating market demand can effectively avoid low resilience re-covery levels in the tourism industry.
