Abstract
Twilight of the Warriors:Walled In is adapted from Yu Er's original hot-blooded fighting novel Kowloon Walled City, and was selected for Midnight Screenings of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, presenting a strong comeback of Hong Kong's action movie genre. The film is based on the hard-hitting,realistic martial arts of Hong Kong films of the past.It follows the exaggerated style of Hong Kong comics, depicting the"unregulated"areas of Hong Kong's history with a strong"urban flavor".The intergenerational love heritage of the four young men in the Kowloon Walled City is echoed by the director's efforts to leave opportunities to the young people outside the screen. While realizing the evolution of the director's style, also brings a breakthrough for Hong Kong's action movies.
