This paper expounds the significant differences in transient characteristics between overhead lines and cables,which lead to the complexity of transient overvoltage waves caused by lightning strikes in hybrid distribution networks.A PSCAD/EMTDC calculation model is proposed to analyze the time-domain and time-frequency domain characteristics of transient overvoltage waves caused by lightning strikes in hybrid distribution networks.
