On the Construction Strategies of Management Theory Research with Chinese Characteristics through Case Studies—Chinese Stories Rooted in the Chinese Context
Developing management case studies with Chinese characteristics is a crucial path to constructing an autonomous knowledge system for Chi-nese management studies. To build an independent Chinese management case study approach,it is important to focus on the rational application of both the positivist paradigm and the interpretive paradigm in management case research. The contemporary significance of Chinese management case studies includes the rich practice of Chinese enterprises, which serves as a valuable resource for case studies;Chinese management case studies act as a tool for constructing indigenous Chinese management theories;and establishing a"Chinese voice"in management studies is the mission of case research. The shortcomings in Chinese management case studies include the disconnection of research subjects from management practice, and the vague"problem awareness"that hinders the generation of valuable case study conclusions.Based on the practical dimension, researchers should adopt a practice-orien-ted perspective focused on"genuine problems"discard the erroneous notion of"publish or perish,"and immerse deeply in the field. From a cultural dimension, management case studies should attend to excellent traditional Chinese cultural elements such as"human nature","harmony",and"right-eous profit".From a value dimension, researchers should emphasize the theoretical rigor and causal mechanisms of management case studies, avoiding a blind pursuit of academic trends.
