Sedimentary composition of turbidite fan and reservoir difference of main units:A case study of Meishan Formation in Qiongdongnan Basin
Sedimentary composition units of turbidite fan mainly include channel of the inner fan,the channel and main body of the lobe of the mid fan,and the lobe, sheet sand of the outer fan,and thin sheet sand at the fan margin.Due to large differences in reservoir physical properties of each unit, the analysis about sedimentary composition of turbidite fan and reservoir differences of the main units is crucial for deployment of exploration and development.Based on the study of sedimentary composition and reservoir characteristics of main units of 20 drilled turbidite fans of Meishan Formation, the rock-electricity-seismic identification criteria for main units of different types of turbidite fans were summarized,it is possible to accurately analyze the scale and geometric shape of the sand bodies, lateral variation of sedimentary thickness, particle size distribution, reservoir heterogeneity and connectivity of the main units of submarine fans, and so on.The research revealed that for the extremely thick massive sandstone at the junction of channels and lobes in the mid fan,the thick lobe sandstone in the outer fan as well as sheet sandstone, the reservoir possess uniform interior and good physical properties;the interior of the turbidite channel sandstone in the inner fan is severely heterogeneous, affecting the physical properties of the reservoir;thin sheet sandstone at the fan margin is often dense due to its thin layer, fine particle size, high mud content and high calcium content. Many exploration wells in this area have been deployed on turbidite channels in the inner fan,was not achieved.Under the guidance of this research achievement, new exploration wells drilled in thick sandstone in the mid fan and sheet sand in the outer fan have achieved commercial success.
