A Narrowband Sound Source Localization Method and System Based on a Non-Uniform Linear Microphone Array
Based on the phase delay estimation of narrowband signals,a signal localization method using a non-uniform linear array is proposed, which solves the phase wrapping problem caused by the increase of array element spacing and improves the accuracy of locali-zation.An estimation algorithm for correcting the amount of wrapping and calculating the time delay in the case of non-uniform linear ar-ray approach is proposed, and the conditions that need to be satisfied for non-uniform array element spacing are given. The signal locali-zation method improves the available array aperture for positioning and greatly reduces the number of array elements required for the same aperture compared to a general uniform linear array, thus reducing the need for subsequent signal processing equipment.A locali-zation system is also constructed and tested. The experiments show that the method effectively improves the accuracy of localization of narrowband sound sources in open space.
