A Novel Differential Active Inductor with Regulated Transistor and Active Feedback Resistor
A novel differential active inductor(DAI)with enhanced characteristics of Q-f and L-f and high linearity is proposed.It is mainly composed of a positive transconductor,a negative transconductor,a regulated transistor and an active feedback resistor.Firstly,the regulated transistor is configured with the external voltage bias terminal and is connected to the drain of differential negative transconductor for adjusting and boosting the inductance value.Secondly,the active feedback resistor is configured with the external voltage bias terminal and is embedded between the drain of the negative transconductor and the gate of the positive transconductor for adjusting and increasing the Q value.Meanwhile,the negative transconductor is configured with the external voltage bias terminal for adjusting the frequency band.Furthermore,under the impact of the regulated transistor and the active feedback resistor,the linearity of the active inductor is improved.By the cooperation of the above four circuit units and the joint tuning of three voltages of the constructed external bias terminal,four excel-lent performances of the novel DAI can be achieved.Firstly,the Q peak value can be independently adjusted relative to L value.Secondly,high Q peak values can be obtained and can remain almost unchanged at different frequencies.Thirdly,the inductance values can be ad-justed in a wide operation bandwidth,meanwhile high Q values can be kept.Fourthly,high linearity of the inductance value is achieved.The verification results show that at 3.85 GHz,the Q peak value can be tuned from 963 to 3 374 with the tuning percentage of 111.2%,while the inductance values variation is only 0.28%.At different frequencies of 3.10 GHz,3.55 GHz and 3.70 GHz,the Q peak values can be high up to 1916,1 923 and 1 821 respectively with the variation of only 5.4%.In the frequency range of 2.65 GH~3.6 GHz,the tuning range of inductance values are greater than 31%,meanwhile,the Q values keep greater than 10.The linearity of the inductance value can be high up to-9 dBV.
