A Hybrid DC Circuit Breaker Topology with Selective Interruption
The traditional hybrid DC circuit breaker must first cut off the fault current and then reclose when dealing with transient faults, which will cause transient power supply interruption.A hybrid circuit breaker for DC-application topology suitable for medium voltage DC with selectable interrupt is proposed. The circuit breaker can select the operation mode according to different fault types. In the bridge structure connected in series with the main pass branch, the capacitance and the current limiting inductance are added to suppress the cur-rent rise of the fault, and the energy is stored. Finally, the energy is released by the energy releasing resistor. The working process and the-oretical analysis of the proposed topology are carried out.Simulation verification is carried out in a single-ended DC equivalent system. The structure can remove the fault within 9 ms when dealing with permanent short-circuit faults. When dealing with transient faults, the system can resume normal operation without interrupting the current and release the energy generated during the fault.Simulation results verify the superiority of the topology.
