盘瓠是瑶族人民心中的神犬,而瑶人自认为是盘瓠的子民。五色犬盘瓠形象与瑶族服饰艺术密不可分。盘瓠＂狗头人身＂,＂其毛五彩＂,在瑶族服饰艺术中同样体现出＂狗头冠＂和＂犬尾＂饰,＂好五色衣裳＂,衣斑布斓的样式与色彩特点。盘瓠图腾是瑶族文化的象征与标志,瑶族服饰艺术便是这个民族文化与精神的一种物化形式。
