Currently, thermal power plants generally face the problem of low resource utilization efficiency.A large amount of waste heat is directly emitted into the environment through flue gas and circulating water resulting in significant energy loss,in particularly the later. Therefore, the recovery of waste heat from power plant circulating water to meet heating demands becomes a key focus in energy-saving research. The objective is to analyze status of energy utilization in thermal power plants, investigate the causes of cold source losses, and compare different operational approaches such as low vacuum, water source heat pump technology and unit NCB.By exploration of the advantages of heat pump heating technology, its value in optimizing energy consumption in thermal power plants are discussed.
