Nano-silver ink droplet formation in piezoelectric inkjet printing and optimization of printhead driving parameter
In order to effectively eliminate the satellite droplets during the inkjet printing of nano-silver ink using single-hole piezoelectric printhead,so as to improve the forming accuracy of conductive pattern, the integrated CCD camera was used to observe the droplet formation process. The influence of the printhead driving parameters, such as the time and voltage of the driving waveform,on the pressure wave generated in the pressure chamber was investigated. The influence of the driving voltage, viscosity and surface tension of the ink on the morphology of the liquid line during droplet formation was also investigated. The results show that the ideal pressure wave and stable inkjet droplet without satellite can be obtained at the rise time 1 of 2 μs,peak voltage dwell time of 28 µs,fall time of 4 µs,trough voltage dwell time of 11 µs,rise time 2 of 2 μs,and voltage of 45-55 V.When lower viscosity and higher surface tension is applied, the liquid line is prone to break into small droplets and subsequently become satellite droplets. The formation of satellite droplets can be suppressed by controlling the length of the liquid line below the threshold length.
