Design of loose bolt detection sensor based on ring patch antenna
Bolts are an integral part of civil engineering and construction projects, and their safe fastening is crucial for maintaining structural integrity. This article introduces a new detachable strain sensor, which is designed based on a ring-shaped curved overlapping patch resonator for detecting the bolt loosening. The rotational movement of the bolt affects the overlap between the outer and inner rings of the resonator, which either raises or lowers the resonant frequency of the antenna to effectively prompt the tightening state. In this article, the working principle and performance of the sensor were discussed. The baseline offset of the resonant frequency along the longitudinal axis of the sensor was determined, and the obvious and small bolt loosening angles can be monitored. The R values of the linear correlation degree are 0.9976 and 0.9904,respectively.Compared with the planar sensor, the proposed sensor has higher linear correlation and sensitivity(6.6 MHz/(°)).In addition, the designed sensor also overcomes the problem of frequency offset reduction caused by the gap between the upper and lower substrates of the planar bolt angle sensor.
