Analysis of Improper Selection of Conformal Coating for the PCBA of a Motor
The quality of the conformal coating directly affects the protective effect of the PCBA and the reliability of the product. Therefore, it is important to scientifically and effectively select suitable conformal coating. Starting from the failure case, firstly, the appearance and elemental composition of the conformal coating are analyzed through ap-pearance observation and SEM&EDS analysis. Then, FT-IR analysis, TGA analysis, and DSC analysis are applied to analyze the material of the conformal coating. Finally, the ion content of the conformal coating is tested by ion chro-matography analysis, the motor failure caused by the short-circuit ignition caused by the conformal coating is deeply analyzed, the failure cause and mechanism of conformal coating on the circuit board is studied in detail, and practi-cal and feasible solutions and improvement suggestions are proposed, which has a certain reference significance for the reasonable selection of conformal coating.
