Thailand has long been one of the source, transit, and destination countries for global human trafficking crimes.Official data shows that the number of victims and registered cases of human trafficking in Thailand gradually decreased from 2017 to 2020,but the number of registered cases of sexual trafficking remained high, and the situation of labor trafficking cases in the fishing sector was severe.Thailand has taken measures to address the issues in legislation, law enforcement, and judiciary.Although its unique political system, traditional gender roles of officials, chaotic social order, and passive governance attitudes have resulted in unsatisfactory actual results, its governance concepts and specific measures are still noteworthy for the purpose of reference.
