In 2023,China's criminology research focuses on hot issues such as cyber violence crime,telecom-network fraud,and new technology crime risk,which basically responds to the current hot button issues and difficulties in China's crime governance,and has distinct characteristics of the era.However,in the face of the current modernization of China's crime management and the realistic needs of the construction of criminology discipline system with Chinese characteristics,in the whole,China's criminology research is still relatively weak and needs to be further strengthened.First,we should develop Chinese Criminology.While localizing the western modern criminological theories,we should also explore the scientific genes of criminology in Chinese culture,develop criminological theories in line with Chinese reality,and produce Chinese crime governance experience and discourse system.Second,we should strengthen the empirical research of criminology in China.The empirical research should not only focus on the cause of crime generation,but also on the effect of crime prevention and control,and high-quality criminology results should be pursued.Third,we should improve official crime statistics,collect criminal victim investigation statistics,and support social organizations or scholars to carry out criminal investigations.Fourth,we should strengthen interdisciplinary research and exchanges,scientifically and comprehensively understand the law of crime,and provide scientific basis for legislation and crime governance decisions.
