Analysis of the Volatile Compounds of Camphorwood and Influence on the Materials Colour of Chinese Paper Cultural Relics
Camphorwood is a commonly used material for packaging and exhibition of traditional Chinese paper cultural relics. Its volatile components are one of the environmental factors affecting the preservation of cultural relics. In this article, the volatile organic compounds of four aged camphor trees were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).To explore the effects of different camphor trees on paper and pigment color, four environmental simulation experiment chambers were setup. The results showed that the volatile organic compounds in camphor wood are very complex, and there are certain differences in the content of camphor wood components at different ages.As the contact time with camphor wood increases, the color change of the pigment tends to increase.Specifically, after increasing the ambient temperature, the synergistic effect of camphor wood volatiles and high temperature intensifies the color change of the pigment.Camphor wood is not suitable for long-term preservation of paper cultural relics.
