Assessment of the Economic Value of Wetland Birds based on the Valuation Method of Wild Animals and Their Products:A Case Study of Birds in Three Typical Intertidal Wetlands in Jiangsu Province
It is a very meaningful and difficult task to carry out the economic value assessment of biodiversity, especially wild birds.Based on the benchmark price of birds and its overall value estimation method provided in the《Valuation Method of Wild Animal and Its Products》,this paper adjusts and optimizes the benchmark price of birds according to the field survey data provided in the literature, and theirs latest protection level and endangered level. The economic values of rare and endangered and other important birds in three typical intertidal wetlands in Southern coastal areas of Jiangsu Province in spring/autumn of 2014/2015 were quantified. The results showed that the estimated values of birds in Tiaozini Wetland in pring and autumn of 2014 and 2015 were 117.3 million and 568.2 million yuan,123.5 million and 393.8 million yuan(price in 2017),respectively.The estimated value of birds in Yangkou Wetland in the spring and autumn of 2014 and 2015 were 37.8 million and 104.1 million yuan, and 48.6 million and 78.8 million yuan respectively. The estimated value of birds in Dongling Port Wetland in the spring and autumn of 2014 and 2015 were 58.4 million and 183.9 million yuan, and 47.2 million and 205.3 million yuan, respectively.According to the economic value of birds in the three wetlands,Tiaozini wetland is the most important one.In terms of the economic value and endangered degree of different wild birds,spoon-billed sandpiper, saunders's gull, spotted greenshank, eurasian curlew and great knot are the top 5 most important species in the three survey areas.
