Calculation of steady-state filtration pressure loss of metal fiber felt particle filter for diesel generators
Diesel generator assembly is an important power generation equipment in civil air defence project.Dur-ing operation,the large amount of black smoke generated by the engine's exhaust system will not only pollute the environment but also easily expose its location,so must be disposed properly.Metal fiber felt particulate filters can effectively collect carbon smoke particles in diesel engine exhaust,with such advantages as high mechanical strength,long service life,large dust capacity,high filtration fineness,small resistance loss and high temperature endurance.The characteristics of collection efficiency and pressure loss of metal fiber felt particle filters have be-come one of the hot research topics recently.This article used numerical calculation methods to theoretically calcu-late and analyze the influence of structural parameters such as filling ratio,fiber diameter,and thickness of 50 kW diesel generator set metal fiber felt on steady-state filtration pressure loss under different filtration rates.The re-search result shows that,based on the principle of minimizing pressure loss while satisfying filtration efficiency,a metal fiber felt with a filling rate of 25%,a thickness of about 0.5 mm,and a diameter of about 15 μm is the ideal structural parameter setting to solve the contradiction between filtration efficiency and pressure loss.
