Ecological Features of an Old-growth Chinese Fir Community at Ancaoxia in Nanping of Fujian Province
The ecological features of a 76-year-old Chinese fir community, such as floristic composition , community appearance, and plant species diversity were studied. The sample plots were located at Ancaoxia, Nanping, Fujian Province, with an area of 2 400 m2 . The results showed that the community had plentiful flora belonging to 71 families, 119 genera and 168 species, and with a high percentage of fern species. Pantropic had the highest proportion among different areal types of genus of spermatophyte in the community (27. 59% in the hillside and 34. 55% in the low-land). The dominant areal types of genus of spermatophyte in the community were tropical components (70. 11 % in the hillside and 74. 55% in the low-land) , reflecting the middle subtropical characteristics of the community. The order of Shannon-Wiener species diversity index was shrub layer (including tree seedlings and saplings) > herb layer > tree layer. Environmental factor of slope position had some impacts on the ecological features of the old-growth Chinese fir community.
