Status and Countermeasure Research on Improving Grain Production Capacity in Four Coastal Provinces in South China
To enact the strategic deployment outlined in the Central Rural Work Conference and the No.1 Central Document in 2024,targeting a hundred-billion-kilogram increase in grain production capacity, this study conducted a systematic analysis of the current status and historical trends in grain production in four southern coastal provinces(regions),including Fujian,Guangdong,Guangxi, and Hainan since 2000 using field investigation, statistical analysis and other methods. The natural, economic, and social factors that constrain the improvement of grain production capacity in the region were analyzed.Considering the new situation faced by China's current food security issues, customized strategies and implementation pathways tailored to local circumstances are formulated in six aspects, including stabilizing and increasing the planting area of grain crops, increasing grain yield per unit area, strengthening scientific and technological support for grain supply, implementing the demonstration project of ton grain field in grain production counties, leveraging the advantages of South China's seed industry, and strengthening diversified food supply.
