Numerical Analysis of Influence of High Altitude on Axial Fan Performance
The performance of axial fan is affected by the decrease of intensity of pressure and air density in the high altitude area.Take the NACA 65(1)-412 axial fan as research object, the Q-p,qv-η,qv-N performance curves of different blade setting angles at high altitude 0km,1km,2km,3km,4km and 5km were calculated numerically. The influences of high altitudes on the performances were analyzed based on the flow fields and the curves. The results show that the efficiency of axial fans with the blade setting angle of 30°,40° and 50° decrease when the altitudes increase. Moreover, the performance of axial fan with blade setting angle of 30° is most affected by the altitude, whose efficiency at 0 km is 43.2%higher than at 5.0 km under the same working condition. The volume flow rates at the maximum efficiency points increase when the blade setting angles increase. The volume flow rate of axial fan with the blade setting angle of 60°is 76%higher than of the axial fan with blade setting angle of 30°.The fan with blade setting angle of 60° has the highest efficiency at 2.0 km because the vortex near the wall at the outlet is the minimum and the back-flow at the outlet is weak.
