Abstract
The forest is something that appears frequently in Haruki Murakami's novels. As well as being used as a setting, the forest is a very important image in Murakami's novels.Haruki Murakami's novels,The End of the World and Cold Wonderland and Kafka on the Shore, are not only spiritually related, but the forest also appears in the novels as a kind of imagery and plays an important role.In both novels, the forest is a part of the protagonist's own self, and all the dangers shown are an illusion, symbolized by the resistance mechanism that prevents people from exploring memories that have been suppressed in the subconscious.
