Digital capital is a new form of capital in the digital age. As a new type of production factor,data is included in the ranks of commodities because of its own use value,and becomes an object circulating in the market. At the same time,it is coerced by capital and evolves from digital commodities to digital capital. With the help of digital technology and digital platforms,digital capital constructs a new type of exploitation mecha-nism that expands the scope,duration and location of exploitation in a more hidden way,thereby realizing the"whole society"production,"all-day"production and "full-field"production of capital. Digital capital under the network platform is a special form of "capital in general",but this particularity does not transcend the essential attributes of capital;it is a specialness within its essential attributes. It is merely a change in the form of capital and still belongs to the constant capital,which still can not overcome the inherent fundamental contradiction of capitalism. In view of this,the drawbacks brought about by the application of digital capital should be avoided when utilizing digital capital to develop the digital economy,preventing it from bringing about problems such as social inequality and the widening of the gap between the rich and the poor.
