Some of Feng Menglong's"Sanyan Stories"depicted the interaction and integration between scholar-officials and merchants, one type of which was formed by scholar-officials'approach to commerce, and the other was resulted from the approach of merchants to political power. This reflected the social background of the de-velopment of the commodity economy in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,in which commercial consciousness gradually spread from the merchant group to the scholar-official group, showing the interaction between the de-velopment of the commodity economy and the feudal dynasty in this historical period. The interaction and inte-gration was facilitated by practical reasons such as the poverty of scholar-officials,the change of the scholastic culture and the rise of merchants, which ultimately gave rise to commercial awareness with distinctive character-istics for both scholar-officials and merchants. The value of the relevant parts of"Sanyan Stories"lied in the fact that they recorded the destabilization and undermining of the rule of the feudal dynasty by the development of the commodity economy.
