Effect of Stress Path on Mechanical Properties of Silt
In order to study the effects of different stress paths on the mechanical properties of silt under plane strain, vertical loading tests were carried out on silt samples under different stress paths using a plane strain gauge. The variation rules of the deviator stress, lateral strain and vertical strain,as well as the difference of strength parameters, were compared under four stress paths. The influence of initial dry density on the development law of deviational stress and lateral strain under different loading paths was investigated. The results show that the stress path has great influence on the stress-strain curve, and different stress paths have obvious influence on the deformation strength of soil. The dry density of silt has a great influence on the stress-strain curve. With the increase of dry density, the increase of vertical strain and lateral strain decreases, showing a negative correlation.
