In-depth exploration of the modernization transformation of urban old streets under the dual backdrop of rapid economic devel-opment and gradually slowing urbanization.By analyzing successful renovation cases both domestically and internationally, this work exam-ines the common challenges facing the renovation of old streets, discusses strategies for synergistic development between economic progress and historical preservation, and emphasizes the need to find a balance between protecting tangible and intangible cultural heritage during the modernization of old neighborhoods.A top-level design framework spanning the design cycle is proposed, using the western section of Pingtan East Street as a case.Successful renovation must not only improve residents'quality of life and commercial vitality but also preserve and enhance the cultural characteristics of the old street.Broad community participation, the promotion of cultural activities, and innova-tion in business models are key factors for successful renovation. This approach opens up new avenues for sustainable urban development.
